Thomas Lohr

Biography

Thomas Lohr, born 1980 in Memmingen, Germany, studied photography at Berlin’s Lette-Verein. After completing his studies, Lohr moved to New York in 2005 and then London in 2010 before relocating to Paris in 2020, during which time he built a successful career as a fashion photographer while pursuing an arts practice.

Lohr’s work is characterized by the relationship he develops with his subject matter over long periods of time. Rather than using photography to digitize fugitive moments, Lohr’s camera captures the regular attention he pays to his subjects. In return for his patience, they reveal aspects and transformations hidden to the single snapshot or lost to undocumented experience.
